Case Study: Adelaide House, London Bridge

Client: Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP

Location: London Bridge

When Adelaide House was built in 1925, the office building was the tallest block in London at the time at nearly 150ft high. Today the building is still one of the City’s iconic historical structures and has undergone a complete refurbishment programme to provide state-of-the art facilities for new occupiers Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP.

Trench Farrow was commissioned to undertake the project management, contract administration and CDM co-ordination.

The refurbishment comprised the wholesale refitting of the 160,000sf building from shell and core, including the replacement of all central plant, services risers and lifts, to create new offices and client suite and auditorium.

As well as creating an excellent working environment for its staff and superb client facilities, our client also wanted to use the latest techniques to reduce its impact on the environment. The use of glass fronted offices, more energy efficient lighting and air-conditioning systems and improved recycling facilities all helped to deliver improvements, whilst cyclists and joggers were encouraged through the provision of increased shower and changing room facilities.
