Trench Farrow
Client: HM Prison Service/Ministry of Justice
Location: Dartmoor
Built in 1809, Dartmoor prison was built as a Napoleonic prisoner of war camp and until recently inmates have been some of the most dangerous and notorious in English penal history.
Most of the buildings date from the late 19th century but three wings have recently been fully refurbished, making significant improvements in prison conditions.
Under the terms of a Framework Agreement with the Client, Trench Farrow was appointed to project manage the complete renewal of the electrical and alarm systems which form a critical part of modern prison security.
A fully occupied and operational Grade II Listed prison, Dartmoor has done much in recent years to shake off its historically austere image.
